Hyvex 82004 BK C PPS

A PEM fuel cell assembly contains a stack of about 200 series-connected cells. The stack is held together through bolting from the end plates to hold the bipolar plates in the stack together and compress the gaskets between them. Intervening insulating plates have bored manifold to feed hydrogen fuel, oxidizing air and cooling water to the stack, as well as to remove the water produced during cell operation.

Ferrule

The crucial factors here are Vectra’s good mechanical properties, even in thin wall sections, and the extreme precision with which ferrules can be made. Ferrules can be injection moulded to incorporate holes to carry the 125 μm thick glass fibres to tolerances of 1-2 μm.These ferrules use Vectra grade A460, specially developed for such applications.has been working closely with systems and cable manufacturers to develop a number of special （PPS） grades tailored specifically to the requirements of fibre optic technology.  The 8670A61 grade has outstanding flow properties, making it ideal for fine-structured design components such as plug connectors, known as ferrules. Other essential properties for this application are very low water absorption, low creep at high temperatures, good dimensional stability and even shrinkage in both flow and transverse directions. Vectra liquid crystal polymer is also used in fibre optics – particularly for connectors.

Heat Exchanger

The service temperature extends up to 140°C.Only PPS has the necessary resistance to chemicals. This was determined by tests in a water-antifreeze mixture at 150°C over 1000 hours. PPS was the only material to display the strength previously specified. Its excellent mechanical properties, such as high strength values, moduli and low tendency to creep, meet the designers exacting requirements. PPS high dimensional stability makes it possible to meet the fine tolerances this application requires.Drawing their heat supply from circulating water, the fresh air heating units in cars often incorporate a side section made from PPS. This side section is secured by the edge of the metal heat exchanger, which is crimped around it. Incorporated in the side section are the inlet and outlet connections for the water-antifreeze mixture.
